Bruins Defeat Arizona in the Last Men's Game in "Old" Pauley Pavilion
In the last men's basketball game played in the 'original' Pauley Pavilion before it closed for renovations, Tyler Trapani, great-grandson of legendary Coach John Wooden, scored UCLA's final points in the building. The Bruins won the game over 10th-ranked and eventual Pac-10 champion Arizona, 71-49. (February 26).
UCLA Women's Golf Captures Third NCAA Championship
The women's golf team rallied on the back nine in the final round of competition to capture its third NCAA title. The Bruins won by four strokes over defending champion Purdue, at Bryan, Texas (May 21).
Women's Volleyball Wins Fourth NCAA Title
After dropping a dramatic second set to Illinois that squared the match at a set apiece, the Bruins women's volleyball team won the next two games to bring home the NCAA Championship — their fourth and UCLA's 108th overall, at San Antonio. En route to the title the Bruins defeated 4-time defending champ Penn State and #1 seeded Texas (December 17).
