The seventh annual L.A. Sports Awards, presented by AT&T U-verse, are coming soon. The Los Angeles Sports Council asked fans to help select the greatest moments in sports for 2011 in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Through balloting on this website, fans ranked the year's Top 10 sports moments as well as cast their votes in 13 different award categories.
Voting took place from January 17 through February 6. Winners will be revealed on Thursday, March 15 during a special dinner and show at Club Nokia at LA Live, with the awards show airing multiple times on Fox Sports West. All winners will receive awards specially created by Tiffany & Co. for this occasion.
The Top 10 moments of 2011 were chosen and ranked based on a list of 15 moments nominated by a blue-ribbon media panel. The online voting results will be combined with the vote of the media panel (50% each), to determine the exact ranking of the Top 10 moments. On March 15 each of those 10 moments will be counted down as we announce the "Greatest Moment of the Year." To view the 15 nominated moments, click here.
For the category awards, nominations are listed in chronological order. As in previous years, three nominated moments per category have been provided by each team, university or association.
