DODGERS TOP MOMENTS 2009

Ramirez’ Pinch-Hit Grand Slam
On the night a bobblehead doll in his image was given away to all fans, Dodger slugger Manny Ramirez blasted a pinch-hit grand slam home run into the Mannywood section of Dodger Stadium to break a 2-2 tie, sending the sell-out crowd into a frenzy and prompting a curtain call. The Dodgers won the game 6-2 and honored Ramirez’s feat with a “curtain call” bobblehead at a September game (July 22).
Loretta’s NLDS Walk-off
Down to their final out, Los Angeles rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Cardinals 3-2 in Game 2 of the National League Division Series and take a commanding 2-0 series lead. Pinch hitter Mark Loretta capped the rally with a bases-loaded walk-off single for the fourth game-ending hit in Los Angeles Dodgers postseason history, helping to send the Dodgers to their second consecutive National League Championship Series (October 8).
WINNING MOMENT
Ethier’s Clutch Performances
Andre Ethier was elected MLB Clutch Performer of the Year after leading the Majors with six walk-off hits and tying a Major League record with four walk-off home runs. The slugger finished sixth in the National League Most Valuable Player voting and was honored with a Louisville Silver Slugger Award, presented annually to the best offensive player at his position in the National League (November).
