Ramirez’ Pinch-Hit Grand Slam
On the night a bobblehead doll in his image was given away to all fans, Dodger slugger Manny Ramirez blasted a pinch-hit grand slam home run into the Mannywood section of Dodger Stadium to break a 2-2 tie, sending the sell-out crowd into a frenzy and prompting a curtain call. The Dodgers won the game 6-2 and honored Ramirez’s feat with a “curtain call” bobblehead at a September game (July 22). |

Loretta’s NLDS Walk-off
Down to their final out, Los Angeles rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Cardinals 3-2 in Game 2 of the National League Division Series and take a commanding 2-0 series lead. Pinch hitter Mark Loretta capped the rally with a bases-loaded walk-off single for the fourth game-ending hit in Los Angeles Dodgers postseason history, helping to send the Dodgers to their second consecutive National League Championship Series (October 8). |
