Chivas USA Takes on Chivas de Guadalajara for First Time in U.S.
Chivas USA took on its Mexican counterpart, Chivas de Guadalajara, in the first-ever ‘ChivaClásico’ held on U.S. soil. A boisterous and energetic crowd at the Rose Bowl took in an exciting, hotly-contested match, which finished as a 2-0 win for the Mexican side (September 23).
Chivas USA Faces LA Galaxy in Playoff Super Clásico
In qualifying for the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season, the Red-and-White faced off against the LA Galaxy in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs. In a thrilling match played in front of a great crowd of 25,218 at Home Depot Center, Chivas USA got goals from Maicon Santos and Maykel Galindo and came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw (November 1).

Thornton Earns Three Top MLS Awards
Enjoying what may have been the best season in his 13-year MLS career, goalkeeper Zach Thornton posted 12 shutouts and owned a miniscule 0.87 goals-against average in his 27 starts. His stunning performances led to Thornton being honored as MLS Goalkeeper of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year, as well as a spot on the MLS Best XI (November).
