USC TOP MOMENTS 2008

USC Women's Golf Wins 2008 NCAA Championship
Beginning the final round with a three-stroke lead, USC never buckled under the pressure and kept runner-up UCLA at bay during six hours of battle to win the 2008 NCAA team title at Albuquerque, New Mexico. Troy led after each round for a wire-to-wire win. Going back to the 2008 Pac-10 and NCAA West Regional Championships, USC finished its last nine rounds in first place (May 23).
WINNING MOMENT
USC Athletes Win 21 Medals at Beijing Olympics
Led by swimmer Rebecca Soni and soccer player Amy Rodriguez, 40 current and former Trojans competed in nine sports and represented 16 countries at the Olympics in Beijing. If USC were a nation it would have ranked 13th in the world with 21 medals and would have tied for eighth in gold medals with nine. It was USC's second-highest overall medal count (behind 24 at the 1984 Los Angeles Games) and tied for second-highest gold medal total (behind 10 golds at the 1948 London Games).
USC Men's Water Polo Captures NCAA title with 7-5 Win over Stanford
Capping a perfect 29-0 season—their first since 1944 (when they finished a mere 5-0)--the Trojans won their fourth NCAA men's water polo championship. In the final at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center, the Trojans again came through on the shoulders of a powerful defense, while Shea Buckner led all scorers with three goals in the historic win (December 7).
