50th Anniversary in Los Angeles
On Opening Day of a season-long celebration of their 50th year in Los Angeles, the Dodgers brought back 42 legends from their last five decades. A touching pregame celebration at Dodger Stadium culminated in ceremonial first pitches from Sandy Koufax, Don Newcombe, and Carl Erskine (March 31).

In one of the greatest trade deadline acquisitions in baseball history, the Dodgers acquired future Hall of Famer Manny Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox just minutes before the deadline. He went on to put together one of the greatest offensive displays in franchise history, batting .396 with 17 homers and 53 RBI in the final two months of the season to lead the team to the NL West Division Title (July 31).
Dodgers Sweep Cubs in Playoffs
The Dodgers defeated the Cubs 3-1 at Dodger Stadium to complete a three-game sweep of their Division Series and advance to the National League Championship Series for the first time since 1988 (October 4).
