Kenseth Sweeps Nascar's West Coast Premiere
Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag in both the Stater Bros. 300 and the Auto Club 500 during the West Coast Premiere of NASCAR at California Speedway. Kenseth, who also won the 2005 Auto Club 500, joined Jeff Gordon, who he edged for the win, as the only drivers with multiple victories at California Speedway (February 24-25).
Bourdais Wins Third Straight Toyota Grand Prix
Sebastien Bourdais won the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Champ Car race for the third consecutive year, just the second time in 33 years a driver has accomplished the feat. The win was the first of the year for Bourdais, who went on to win seven more races and an unprecedented fourth straight Champ Car season championship in 2007 (April 15).

Johnson Returns To The Winner's Circle
Southern California native Jimmie Johnson won the 2007 Sharp AQUOS 500 for his second career victory on his home track, the California Speedway. Johnson would go on to win six of the final 12 Cup races, securing his second consecutive NASCAR NEXTEL Cup championship and becoming just the 10th driver to repeat as Cup champion (September 2).
