Saito Sets Major League Saves Mark
In a game against the Atlanta Braves at Dodger Stadium, Takashi Saito recorded his 47th save in his first 50 big league save opportunities, the first Major League pitcher in history to accomplish that feat. It was Saito's 23rd save of the season (July 3). |

By defeating the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, Brad Penny improved his record to 13-1 and became the first starting pitcher in Los Angeles Dodger history to win 13 of his first 14 decisions (July 26). |

Martin Wins Gold Glove And Silver Slugger Awards
All-Star catcher Russell Martin won the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards for being the National League's best fielding and best hitting catcher. Martin joined Dusty Baker (1981) as the only Dodgers ever to win both awards in the same season (November 6 and 9). |
