Trojans Upset UCLA in Men's Basketball
In the final UCLA-USC game played at the Sports Arena, an underdog and short-handed Trojan men's basketball team handed a 71-68 loss to a Bruin squad that would later reach the NCAA championship game (February 19).
Galen Center Opens
After years of anticipation USC dedicated the Galen Center, the new 10,258-seat on-campus home to USC men's and women's basketball and volleyball (October 21).
USC Tops Notre Dame for the Fifth Straight Year
In a battle of teams ranked in the top ten, USC convincingly defeated the Fighting Irish, 44-24 for their fifth consecutive win in the intersectional rivalry. The Trojans were led by three John David Booty touchdown passes to Dwayne Jarrett, at the Coliseum (November 26).
