Leslie Becomes First WNBA Player to Score 5,000 Points
With a 19-foot jump shot in the first quarter against San Antonio, Lisa Leslie became the first WNBA player to total 5,000 career points. Her career-high 41 points that night led the Sparks to victory, at Staples Center (June 24).
Toler's Number 11 Jersey Retired
Recognizing the historical impact of Penny Toler's career as both a player and general manager, her number 11 jersey was retired by the Sparks in a half-time ceremony. It is the first jersey to be retired by the Sparks (July 5).
Sparks Dedicate Court to Lisa Leslie
Team President Johnny Buss presented a unique 34th birthday gift to center Lisa Leslie - the court at Staples Center. An inscription with her name, number and the words "Lisa Leslie Court" was placed in each corner of the Sparks' home floor (July 7).
