Weaver's 9-0 Start Ties AL Record
Jered Weaver opened his major league career with a 9-0 record, tying the American League record for starting pitchers by defeating the Seattle Mariners, 3-0 at Angel Stadium. Weaver tied the record set by the Yankees' Whitey Ford in 1950 (August 18).
Rodriguez Sets Angels Club Record With 47 Saves
By striking out the side against the Oakland Athletics, Francisco Rodriguez became the Angels' all-time single-season saves leader with 47, at Angel Stadium (September 30).
Tim Salmon Sets Records in Final Season
After 15 seasons Tim Salmon concluded the longest tenure by any player in an Angel uniform, retiring as the club's all-time leader in home runs (299), walks (970) and runs scored (986). His final game came at home vs. Oakland (October 1).
