About the Bren Events Center
Opened on January 8, 1987, the Bren Center is home to UC Irvine's basketball and volleyball teams as well as a variety of concerts, campus events and special programs. The facility was home to the 1990, 1991 and 1992 U.S. Open Badminton Championships and was the proposed site for badminton in the Los Angeles bid for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The basics:
The Bren Center has a maximum capacity of 5,700 for concert and entertainment events with 4,984 for court sports such as basketball and volleyball. There are 2,610 fixed seats, 2,374 in retracting or telescopic bleachers.

Location and parking:
The venue is located on the UC Irvine campus at the corner of West Peltason Drive and Mesa Road, just less than two miles rom the San Diego (405) Freeway's Jamboree Road exit. It can also be accessed from the University Drive exit off the Corona del Mar (73) Freeway.

Technical information:
The Bren Center offers a floor area of 22,750 sq.ft. (approximately 75 by 120 feet) with a 50-foot ceiling height. Load-in is easy thanks to a 20-foot square exterior doorway and a spacious service elevator.

There are six locker rooms in the Bren Center: two each in 1,000 sq.ft., 575 sq.ft and 225 sq.ft. configurations. Weight-training facilities are available next door at Crawford Hall, which serves as the headquarters for UCI's intercollegiate athletics department.

Spectator amenities include a full-service box office with five windows (call (949) 824-5000), two permanent concession stands, an excellent metal-halide lighting system and four in-arena scoreboards. There are also three in-arena meeting rooms which can be used for administration or hospitality, ranging in size from 1,600-1,820 sq.ft.

There are 1,300 parking spaces surrounding the Center in various campus lots and structures.
